Garden/Yard pics

Here are the different pictures of things we are going to be fixing up and things we have done.
One of our raised beds with the newly planted onions. Our strawberry bush is growing back and we are uncovering it from the layer of leaves we put down to protect it over the winter. It also has some insane runners that re rooted themselves and then broke off from the main bush! So we have new strawberry plants. We even had some runners that jumped the wooden beam to separate the beds and re rooted itself and then broke off as well. So I guess that's going to be another onion bed ;) Not that I mind. We needed an extra onion bed and the strawberries just picked the bed for us since they are companion plants! Buddy plants :D

Closer pic of the 30 onion bulbs, the greens are a little limpy because we waited just a bit too long to transplant and they got too big for the applesauce/baby food plastic cups. They should be able to stand up in a few days since they have endless soil.

Close up of our strawberry bush. We planted it last year, so we should be able to get some strawberries this year! :D

One of my broccoli beds.

Close up of one of biggest broccoli seedlings. I did a zigzag formation for planting to give the broccoli more room to breathe when they grow huge. I planted them 12 inches apart in every direction. I did not use a ruler, I used my flip flop (I wear a size 10-11) and went an extra inch.

Cutting down some dieing trees with poison ivy vines choking them. Plus we could use the extra space to grow more food! :D

Here is the edge of our fire pit for our trash, but the brier field with trees is where we are going next to make our wheat and or corn field depending on how much room we have.

Here is the run down, but still usable chicken coop (left) and pig pen (right). We use the golf cart to run around the property to make work a little easier...and have a little fun ;)

Here is the gutter that Mr. Smith just put up to lead the water away from the foundation and to collect the water for the garden. Eventually we are going to catch rain water from on top of the roof to feed the animals. You cannot give the water that goes into the gutters to your animals. It has dirt and whatever else was on your roof and could make your animals sick. That's why we are going to set up something to be on top of the roof with screens covering it to keep mosquitoes out.

Here is Mr. Smith cutting down the branches that were almost laying on top of the roof.

Here is the summer kitchen (right side) and slaughter house (left side).

Old smoke house.

These buildings need work, but look past the work and see all the potential! When we are done fixing up these buildings, what they could do for our homestead is endless! Too many ideas to list.
